Verelan is used to treat adults with hypertension. It is also used to treat angina, arrhythmia, cluster headaches and other conditions as prescribed by your doctor. Verelan relaxes blood vessels and the heart muscles so blood can flow more easily. This lowers blood pressure, prevent strokes, heart attacks and kidney problems. It is available as a capsule.

Take your medicine as directed. Your dose may need to be changed several times to find what works best for you.
Oral routeIt is best to take this medicine with food or milk.
Swallow the extended-release tablet or extended-release capsule whole. Do not crush, break, or chew it.
If you take the Verelan® or Verelan® PM extended-release capsule, you may open it and pour the medicine into a small amount of applesauce. Stir this mixture well and swallow it without chewing.
Missed dose: Take a dose as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose, wait until then and take a regular dose. Do not take extra medicine to make up for a missed dose.
Store the medicine in a closed container at room temperature, away from heat, moisture, and direct light.

Unusual tiredness or weakness
Some medicines can affect how verapamil works.
