Which type of diabetes is genetic?

Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes both have genetic links. Generally, Type 1 diabetes is associated with inherited genes and family history, while Type 2 diabetes also runs in families alongside lifestyle factors. This is because certain gene mutations affecting insulin production or use may be passed down, though not everyone with a family history develops diabetes.
