Take Adderall XR exactly as prescribed.
Take the dose in the morning right after waking up.
Swallow the capsule whole with water. Do not crush, break, or chew it.
If the capsule cannot be swallowed, it can be opened and the contents sprinkled on a spoonful of applesauce.
Take the entire spoonful of applesauce and medicine immediately and swallow without chewing.
Follow up with a drink of water or other liquid.
Do not take a dose in the afternoon or it may interfere with sleeping.
Read and follow the medication guide or instruction sheet that comes with the prescription.
If too much Adderall XR is taken, seek immediate medical advice from a doctor or poison control center.
Always check the expiration date. If the expiration date has passed, dispose of the medication safely and get a new prescription.
Adderall should be stored at room temperature (68°–77° F) away from moisture, heat, and light.
This medicine is not right for everyone. Do not use it if you had an allergic reaction to amphetamine, dextroamphetamine, or similar medicines, or if you have glaucoma, an overactive thyroid, or a history of drug abuse.
Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, or if you have heart or blood vessel disease (including arteriosclerosis), kidney disease, heart rhythm problems, high blood pressure, or a history of heart attack, stroke, seizures, or Tourette syndrome. Tell your doctor if you or anyone in your family has a history of depression, mental health problems, or drug or alcohol addiction.

This medicine can be habit-forming. Do not use more than your prescribed dose. Call your doctor if you think your medicine is not working.
This medicine may make you dizzy or cause blurred vision. Do not drive or do anything else that could be dangerous until you know how this medicine affects you.
Tell any doctor or dentist who treats you that you are using this medicine. This medicine may affect certain medical test results.
Your doctor will do lab tests at regular visits to check on the effects of this medicine. Keep all appointments.
Keep all medicine out of the reach of children. Never share your medicine with anyone.
Seizures
Some foods and medicines can affect how this medicine works. Tell your doctor if you are using any of the following: Acetazolamide, ammonium chloride, buspirone, chlorpromazine, ethosuximide, fentanyl, glutamic acid, guanethidine, haloperidol, hydrochlorothiazide, lithium, meperidine, methenamine, phenobarbital, phenytoin, propoxyphene, quinidine, reserpine, ritonavir, sodium acid phosphate, St John's wort, tramadol Allergy medicineAntacid or other stomach medicine (including cimetidine, esomeprazole, omeprazole, pantoprazole, sodium bicarbonate)Blood pressure medicineMedicine to treat depression (including desipramine, fluoxetine, paroxetine, protriptyline)Triptan medicine to treat migraine headacheTryptophan supplement
Fruit juice and vitamin C can affect how your body absorbs this medicine.
Do not drink alcohol while you are using this medicine.
Tell any doctor or dentist who treats you that you are using this medicine. This medicine may affect certain medical test results.
Keep all medicine out of the reach of children. Never share your medicine with anyone.
Do not use this medicine if you are using or you have used an MAO inhibitor (MAOI) within the past 14 days.
Serious Side Effects
Fast, slow, pounding, or uneven heartbeat
Numb, cold, pale, or painful fingers or toes, unexplained wounds on the fingers or toes
Allergic reaction: Itching or hives, swelling in your face or hands, swelling or tingling in your mouth or throat, chest tightness, trouble breathing
Anxiety, fever, sweating, muscle spasms, twitching, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, seeing or hearing things that are not there
Blurred vision or vision changes
Chest pain, trouble breathing, fainting
Seizures
Extreme energy or restlessness, confusion, agitation, unusual mood or behavior
