Bromsite is a prescription drug that is used to treat inflammation and prevent ocular pain after cataract eye surgery. Cataracts create a cloud on the lens of the eye, when this happens, you may experience impaired vision. Cataract surgery is a procedure that removes the clouded lenses and oftentimes replaces it with an artificial lens into the eyes. After surgery, patients can use Bromsite to reduce swelling and prevent pain.
If you wear contact lenses, remove them before using Bromsite. You should ask your healthcare provider for medical advice on proper safety instructions for using Bromsite.
If you are pregnant or are planning on becoming pregnant, you should talk to your healthcare provider before using Bromsite. Mothers who are breastfeeding should inform their doctor to ensure that your health and the health of your baby will not be harmed.
Some reported side effects associated with Bromsite are red eyes, sensitivity to light, temporary blurred vision, watery eyes, or headache. There are other side effects of Bromsite that have not been mentioned here. If you have experienced these or other side effects, you should talk to your healthcare provider. Since Bromsite is an NSAID, patients can possibly experience slow or delayed healing.
Some patients have also experienced allergic reactions when using Bromsite. Some symptoms of an allergic reaction include hives or swelling of your face, lips, and throat. Seek immediate medical attention if an allergic reaction occurs. If you have had reactions to any NSAID (oral or eye drop), tell your doctor before using Bromsite.
Bromsite should not be immediately used with another topical ophthalmic medication. Wait at least 5 minutes between applications of eye drops. Your healthcare provider should be aware of any medications that you may be taking before and after your cataract surgery.
