What is Ciclodan?
Ciclodan is a generic antifungal medication that treats fungal infections including athlete's foot, jock itch, fungal infections of the body, nails, or scalp, candidiasis, ringworm, and tinea versicolor, a fungal infection that affects skin pigmentation.
The active ingredient in Ciclodan, ciclopirox, both kills and stops the growth of fungus. It works by binding to ions, such as aluminum and iron, that drive critical functions inside the fungus cells. Ciclopirox also reduces swelling.
Ciclodan is applied as a cream or topical solution to the affected area twice daily, once in the morning and once at night.
