What is Flumazenil?

Flumazenil is used to undo benzodiazepine sedation to help you wake up after your medical procedure. This prescription medication may also be used to treat benzodiazepine overdose in persons 18 years and older. Flumazenil belongs to the drug class known as antidotes. Antidotes work by neutralizing the effects of some drugs or poisons. However, most antidotes are not fully effective, and fatalities may still occur even when an antidote has been given.
