MiraLAX is a brand-name over-the-counter gentle laxative that helps relieve occasional constipation. Its active ingredient, polyethylene glycol 3350, is a gentle, osmotic laxative that increases water within the colon. The extra water loosens stools, making them easier to pass. MiraLAX comes as a powder. Doses are mixed with liquids and taken orally once per day.
