What is Norditropin FlexPro? 

Norditropin FlexPro is used in pediatric patients with growth failure due to inadequate growth hormone (GH) production. This prescription drug can also treat short stature associated with Noonan syndrome or Turner syndrome, short stature born small for gestational age (with no catch up in growth by age 2 to 4 years), idiopathic short stature, and growth failure due to a condition called Prader-Willi Syndrome. This medicine is also used in adults with growth hormone deficiency.

Norditropin FlexPro is available in various strengths, including 5 mg per 1.5 mL, 10 mg per 1.5 mL, 15 mg per 1.5 mL, and 30 mg per 3 mL. Your healthcare provider will recommend the appropriate strength for you and will teach you how to inject this medication. Use Norditropin FlexPro exactly as your healthcare provider directs. Only use it after proper training, and when you feel that you are confident in your injection technique. If you have any questions or concerns, consult your healthcare provider for more information and medical advice. People who are blind or have vision problems may have difficulty reading the dose counter on the pen, and should only use the pen with help from someone with good eyesight. 

Never share your Norditropin FlexPro pens or needles with anyone else, because doing so may cause an infection. 

Norditropin FlexPro can be injected subcutaneously, or under the skin, in the stomach, buttocks, upper legs, or upper arms. You should change the injection site every day. 

How do I store Norditropin Flexpro?

Store new, unused pens in the refrigerator, away from direct light. Do not freeze. Do not use the pen if it has been frozen or if it has been exposed to temperatures over 77ºF. 

After using the pen, you can either:

• Store it in the refrigerator, and use it within 4 weeks, OR

• Store at room temperature (less than 77ºF), and use within 3 weeks

Place the used needle in a sharps container immediately after use. Keep this medication out of the reach of children. 

What are the side effects of Norditropin FlexPro?

The most common side effects of Norditropin FlexPro are swelling, injection site reactions, muscle, skeletal,  and joint pain, numbness and tingling, decreased sense of touch or sensation, carpal tunnel syndrome, headache, high blood pressure, and fatigue. You may also experience swelling, pain, and stiffness in the extremities. 

If you have any of the following symptoms of an allergic reaction, get emergency medical help: hives, difficulty breathing, or swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat. 

Other serious side effects may occur, including, but not limited to, high blood sugar, inflammation of the pancreas, and a buildup of pressure in the skull. 

People with Prader-Willi Syndrome may experience serious breathing problems when using Norditropin FlexPro. If you have Prader-Willi Syndrome, call your doctor right away if you have shortness of breath, coughing, or new or increased snoring.
