Parlodel is an FDA-approved brand-name prescription drug that treats three different conditions. First, it reduces the levels of the hormone prolactin in the body when it's too high (hyperprolactinemia). Second, it is used alone or with other treatments to reduce the levels of growth hormone when it's too high (acromegaly). Finally, Parlodel acts like dopamine, a critical “signaling” chemical in the brain, when dopamine is too low (Parkinson's disease).
The active ingredient in Parlodel, bromocriptine, locks itself on to nerve cells so that the “correct” signals are sent to the glands that produce prolactin and growth hormone and, for Parkinson's, allow the brain to control muscle movement. Continue to our FAQs section for more information about Parlodel: how it works, possible side effects, how much Parlodel costs, and how you can save money on your Parlodel prescription. For instance, while the retail price of Parlodel is normally $249.49, a SingleCare Parlodel coupon reduces that price to $39.99. Find out more about this and other ways to save money below.
