The amount of your Zileuton ER copay depends on your insurance plan. Your copay could be extremely high. With SingleCare, Zileuton ER costs $324.00, which may be lower than your insurance copay and may be your best option if your insurance does not cover Zileuton ER. Compare your Zileuton ER copay cost with your price using a SingleCare discount card. The difference may be considerable.

Zileuton ER is a generic prescription drug manufactured by Rising, Prasco, Par, and Aristos as an alternative to Zyflo CR, a brand-name drug manufactured by Chiesi. Generic Zileuton ER does not cost much less than Zyflo CR, but the copay cost may be slightly lower.
Zileuton ER is a generic prescription drug that prevents asthma attacks by blocking the chemicals that cause asthma. These chemicals are produced by the lungs and white blood cells in response to a foreign substance, such as pollen. They activate muscle contractions that narrow the airways and provoke a “swelling response” that both narrows airways and fills lung spaces with mucus. The result is an asthma attack, a significant reduction in the ability to breathe.
Zileuton ER only helps to prevent asthma attacks over the long term and cannot treat an active (acute) asthma attack.
Zileuton ER is taken as a tablet twice daily one hour after a meal. Dosage may vary depending on the severity of the underlying condition. Zileuton ER also is provided in an immediate release format.
Most people will not experience side effects when taking Zileuton ER, and those side effects will often be minimal. The most common side effects of Zileuton ER, experienced by about 1 in 20 patients, are cold symptoms, nausea, and sore throat. Less common side effects (experienced by less than one in a hundred patients) include upset stomach, nausea, chest pain, muscle pain, headache, diarrhea, weakness, and trouble sleeping. Mental and mood changes are very rare and include insomnia, behavior changes, anxiety, depression, or suicidal thoughts.
Allergic reactions are very rare (less than one percent of patients), but include rashes and skin redness. Discontinue Zileuton ER at any sign of an allergic reaction.
This is not a complete list of side effects. As always, consult with your physician about any concerns or questions you have regarding Zileuton ER and its side effects.
