There are several causes of OCD, but one of them is an imbalance in the chemicals that send messages between nerve cells in the brain.
The active ingredient in Anafranil, clomipramine, works by rebalancing these nerve-signaling chemicals. Clomipramine is a “monoamine oxidase inhibitor,” that is, it blocks a protein, monoamine oxidase, which sometimes removes these nerve signaling chemicals too quickly.
