How to take Arixtra

What to do if you miss a dose of Arixtra

Arixtra contraindications

• This medicine is not right for everyone. Do not use it if you had an allergic reaction to fondaparinux.

Arixtra warnings

• Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, or if you have kidney disease, liver disease, any bleeding problems, high blood pressure, diabetic retinopathy, a stomach ulcer, or a history of stroke or heart infection. Tell your doctor if you recently had brain, back, or eye surgery. Tell your doctor if you have an allergy to latex.

• This medicine may cause the following problems:Increased risk of bleeding Risk of spinal or epidural blood clots after spinal procedures

• Tell any doctor or dentist who treats you that you are using this medicine. You may need to stop using this medicine several days before you have surgery or medical tests.

• Tiny red dots on the skin, especially on the lower legs

• Unexplained nosebleeds

• Unusual bleeding, bruising, or weakness

Arixtra interactions

• This medicine may cause the following problems:Increased risk of bleeding Risk of spinal or epidural blood clots after spinal procedures

• Tell any doctor or dentist who treats you that you are using this medicine. You may need to stop using this medicine several days before you have surgery or medical tests.

• Some medicines can affect how fondaparinux works. Tell your doctor if you are using an NSAID pain or arthritis medicine (such as aspirin, ibuprofen, naproxen) or other blood thinners (such as clopidogrel, warfarin).

• Your doctor will do lab tests at regular visits to check on the effects of this medicine. Keep all appointments.

• Keep all medicine out of the reach of children. Never share your medicine with anyone.
