Clomiphene citrate is a medication used to treat female infertility. Clomiphene citrate works by causing an increase in the amount of female sex hormones. This lead to egg maturation and release (ovulation). Clomiphene citrate is a generic medication also sold under the brand names Clomid and Serophene. Clomiphene citrate has been available for years.
