Cosopt contains dorzolamide hydrochloride (a carbonic anhydrase inhibitor), which reduces the amount of fluid in the eye, and timolol maleate (a beta blocker), which reduces pressure inside the eye. It is not known if Cosopt is safe for patients who are under two years old. You could also ask your eye doctor about Cosopt PF which comes in single-use, preservative-free containers.
Do not use Cosopt if you are allergic to any part of this medication.
Before you use Cosopt, tell your doctor if you have any other medical conditions including a history of asthma, severe lung problems such as COPD, or heart problems. It may not be safe for you to use Cosopt with any of these conditions. If you are on other medications you should provide your doctor with a list of them, including prescription medications, over-the-counter treatments, vitamins, and supplements. This will minimize your risk of drug interactions and adverse side effects.

Also, if you are using any other eye drops, wait 5 minutes after using Cosopt. Wash your hands before using Cosopt. To avoid contamination, infection, and serious vision problems, do not touch the tip of the eyedropper and do not place the dropper directly into the eye.
