The HIV/AIDs virus directly attacks the body's immune system, so patients become vulnerable to secondary and ultimately life-threatening infections and cancers. Reducing the viral load helps the immune system to recover. The recovered immune system can better fight off HIV as well as opportunistic cancers and infections.
Delstrigo is taken as a tablet once per day. Delstrigo can make hepatitis B infections worse, so Delstrigo is not used in patients with hepatitis B.

The most common side effects of Delstrigo are dizziness, nausea, insomnia, diarrhea, drowsiness, and rash. Mental and mood changes include strange dreams.
The most serious side effects of Delstrigo are liver problems and bone loss.
Allergic reactions are rare. Discontinue Delstrigo if any allergic symptoms, such as rash, swelling, or trouble breathing, are experienced.
