Juven is a therapeutic nutrition powder that provides amino acids, collagen protein, and other nutrients to promote wound healing due to injury or surgery. The active ingredients in Juven promote collagen formation and help build lean muscle mass. Juven can be started in a hospital or purchased for home use without a prescription. When taken at home, the recommended dose is two servings per day. To take each serving, people can mix the powder with water, other liquids, or food.

Juven provides nutritional support for wound healing, including surgical wounds, pressure sores, burns, and diabetic sores. Healthcare providers may also use it as nutrition therapy in people with muscle wasting due to cancer or HIV/AIDS.

How to take Juven

  • Your doctor may tell you how much medicine to use. Do not use more than directed. 

  • Follow the instructions on the medicine label if you are using this medicine without a prescription.

  • Mix the packet contents with 8–10 oz. of water or other drink. Then, drink the entire contents.

    • Juven can be mixed with hot drinks as long as they’re not boiling.

    • Juven can also be mixed with many types of food.

    • Juven can be mixed ahead of time and stored for 4 hours at room temperature or 24 hours in a refrigerator.

  • Caregivers can administer Juven through a nasogastric or gastrostomy tube:

    • Pour the packet contents into a clean container.

    • Add 4 ounces of water at room temperature.

    • Mix well.

    • Flush the feeding tube with 30 mL water.

    • Using a 60-mL syringe (or larger), give the Juven mixture through the tube.

    • Flush the feeding tube with another 30 mL of water.

What to do if you miss a dose of Juven

  • If treatment is supervised by a doctor, ask the doctor what to do if a dose is forgotten.

  • Otherwise, take a missed dose when remembered.

Juven contraindications - Who shouldn't take Juven?

  • You should not use this supplement if you have had an allergic reaction to any of the ingredients.
