What is Lokelma?

Lokelma (sodium zirconium cyclosilicate) is a prescription medication used to treat hyperkalemia. That is a condition where there is a high level of potassium in the blood. This medication works directly in the intestines to remove excess potassium from the body. Lokelma does not work right away and should not be used to treat life-threatening high levels of potassium.

This medication comes in the form of an oral powder for reconstitution. Use this medication two hours after or two hours before taking other medications.
