Monistat 3 is a vaginal yeast infection treatment for women. This prescription drug is a 3-day treatment that reduces vaginal burning, itching, and discharge that may occur with a yeast infection of the vagina. This medication belongs to the azole antifungal drug class and works by stopping the growth of yeast (fungus) that causes the vagina to become infected.
Monistat 3 day comes in two forms; a vaginal cream or suppositories that are inserted into the vaginal canal. Some products also come with a skin cream to be applied to the area around the outside of the vagina. miconazole topical, the main ingredient in Monistat 3 is also found in Monistat 1-day treatment and Monistat 7-day treatment. These products are all anti-itch creams and part of Monistat Complete Care all used to treat yeast infections.
