What is Novoeight?

Novoeight is used to control and prevent bleeding episodes in patients with low levels of factor VII, also known as hemophilia A. It may also be used by patients before surgery to prevent bleeding. Patients with low hemophilia A are at risk for bleeding longer after surgery or bleeding inside the body. This medication contains a man-made form of hemophilia A, called an antihemophilic factor. It is used to temporarily replace missing hemophilia, a protein that is normal in the blood that helps it to clot so that bleeding disorders can stop.

This medication is available in the form of an intravenous powder for injection. It is administered by a healthcare professional as an injection into a vein. IT may need to be given more slowly over a longer time depending on your dose and how you respond to treatment. Your doctor will recommend an appropriate dose for you based on an assessment of your current medical condition, other drugs you are currently taking, and your response to treatment.

After first receiving this treatment in a hospital, some patients may be able to give this medication to themselves at home. Read follow the instructions in the Patient Information leaflet before you start using this medication. Learn all the usage and preparation instructions from your doctor.
