What is Terocin?
Terocin is a brand-name topical pain reliever for arthritis, back pain, muscle pain, joint pain, strains, nerve pain, tendonitis, and osteoarthritis. New Terocin Pain Lotion contains the active ingredients methyl salicylate, menthol, and camphor. Terocin patch contains lidocaine (4%) and menthol.
Methyl salicylate is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug, or NSAID, and is closely related to aspirin. It relieves pain by blocking substances that cause swelling.
Lidocaine is a topical anesthetic. When it is absorbed into the skin and comes in contact with nerves it numbs the nerves.
Both menthol and camphor are counter-irritants. They relieve pain by overwhelming nerves in the same location with different sensations. Both menthol and camphor stimulate cold receptor nerves, giving the skin a cool feeling that temporarily relieves pain. Camphor is also a mild anesthetic.
What are the side effects of Terocin?
