Uzedy is a member of the atypical antipsychotics drug class, also known as second-generation antipsychotics. Atypical antipsychotics are less likely to cause side effects than typical antipsychotic drugs, or first-generation antipsychotics. Uzedy is approved by the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to treat schizophrenia in adults. It is made by a pharmaceutical company called Teva Pharmaceuticals USA. Uzedy is an extended-release injectable suspension that contains the active ingredient risperidone. Uzedy is administered by a healthcare professional subcutaneously (under the skin) in the abdomen or upper arm—either once a month or once every two months.
When taking Uzedy, avoid alcohol. The combination could cause dangerous side effects. Do not drive until you know how this medication affects you. Because Uzedy can make you dizzy, possibly leading to falls, accidents, or injuries, avoid standing up too fast from a sitting or lying down position.

If you have signs of an allergic reaction, such as hives, difficulty breathing, or swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat, get emergency medical attention.
Taking risperidone for a long time, or using high doses, can cause a serious movement disorder which may not be reversible. The risk increases with longer use of this medication. Other serious side effects of this medicine may include:
