Xhance is an FDA-approved prescription nasal spray that uses an exhalation delivery system (EDS) for the treatment of nasal polyps. Nasal polyps stem from chronic inflammation and occur high and deep within your nasal passages and sinuses which makes them difficult to see during a regular nasal exam. This drug can also be used to treat nasal congestion.
Unlike other inhalers, when using Xhance you will have to remove the cap and shake the container, tilt your head slightly forward then carefully insert the nasal applicator into a nostril. Once that is done, insert the mouthpiece into your mouth and blow hard into the mouthpiece. While blowing into the mouthpiece, press on the bottle to spray the medicine into your nostrils. Do not spray directly onto the nasal septum. Do not close your other nostril or breathe in through your nose while the medicine is being sprayed.
Xhance is only intended for use in patients 18 years of age or older, children may have to use Flonase or Veramyst. Before taking this Xhance be sure to tell your doctor about all other medications that you may currently be on, this includes both over-the-counter, herbal, vitamin supplements, and prescribed drugs. This drug should not be used if you are allergic to fluticasone propionate or any of the active ingredients found in Xhance.
The most common side effects of Xhance include, but are not limited to, bloody nose, cough, fever, headache, muscle aches, sore throat, trouble breathing, and unusual tiredness or weakness.
Seek medical advice from your doctor or healthcare provider if you experience any side effect that is bothersome or does not go away. These are not all of the possible side effects of Xhance. You can report other side effects not listed to the FDA.
