You may have noticed that the program has changed over time, which has caused confusion for some people. The good news is that eligible patients can still take advantage of the $25 program. How much does Wegovy cost?

The typical cash price for 4, 0.75 ml pens (a four-week supply) or 30, 1.5 mg tablets of oral tablets of Wegovy is about $1,822. You’ll likely pay less if you have health insurance with a prescription drug plan that covers Wegovy. There are also ways to reduce your drug copay with coupons and savings programs.

Can you get Wegovy for $25 a month?

In the past, Novo Nordisk advertised a savings offer for free Wegovy (up to one year) followed by as little as $25 per month, depending on your insurance provider. The free first year promotion was discontinued, but commercially insured  patients can still pay as little as $25 for four weekly injections (capped at a maximum savings of $100 per month). 

Here are the pricing details as of August 2026, with full terms and conditions available on Novo Nordisk’s website. In each case, your commercial insurance must cover Wegovy, and you must meet its specific eligibility requirements.

• Wegovy injections: You can pay as little as $25 with a maximum savings of $100 per four-week supply (four pens, a 28-day supply), $200 for a two-month prescription (eight pens, a 56-day supply), or $300 for a three-month prescription (12 pens, an 84-day supply). 
• Wegovy pills: Your copay can be as low as $25 with a maximum savings of $100 per 30-day supply (30 tablets), $200 per 60-day supply (60 tablets), or $300 for a 90-day supply (90 tablets).

For example, if your copay for a four-week supply of Wegovy injections is $65, you may be able to pay $25 after applying the Wegovy Savings Offer, as the program reduces your copay by $40 to a final price of $25. However, if your copay is $150, your final cost would be $50.

Eligibility criteria for Wegovy savings

To obtain the savings card for Wegovy, you must not be enrolled in a federal or state health care program with prescription drug coverage, including Medicaid, Medicare, Medigap, Tricare, or VA programs.

In addition, you cannot receive this benefit if your commercial insurance plan or another pharmacy benefit program already covers the entire cost of your Wegovy treatment. 

To receive this offer, you must provide a valid prescription for brand name Wegovy that includes a valid prescriber identification number. This offer is only valid in the United States and its territories and is not transferable. Also, this offer only applies to Wegovy and does not cover other forms of semaglutide, such as non-FDA approved compounded semaglutide. Ozempic, which also contains the active ingredient semaglutide, is included. However, Ozempic and Wegovy have different FDA-approved uses. If you qualify for the PAP, talk to your healthcare provider about whether Ozempic or another Wegovy alternative may be an option, depending on your medical condition. 

Other ways to get affordable Wegovy

Although the cash price of Wegovy is over $1,800, there are more affordable options available if you do not have insurance coverage. For example, you can self-pay at your pharmacy or through NovoCare Pharmacy, Novo Nordisk’s mail order pharmacy. Wegovy oral tablets ranged from $149 to $299 for a 30-day; injections range from $199 to $349 (or $399 for the Wegovy HD pen) for a 28-day supply. As always, these prices are subject to change, so it’s a good idea to check the manufacturer’s price list.

Insurance, Medicare, and Medicaid coverage of Wegovy

“If you have commercial or private insurance, they might cover up to 100% of the total cost of Wegovy,” says Sarah Bonza, MD, the founder of Bonza Health and hospitalist physician at Fairfield Medical Center in Lancaster, Ohio. 

However, Medicare prescription plans aren’t likely to cover Wegovy for weight management alone. “Medicare does not cover anti-obesity medications,” says Angela Fitch, MD, the chief medical officer at Knownwell and past President of the Obesity Medicine Association. Insurance plans that do not cover Wegovy for weight loss may cover it for one of the other FDA-approved uses—cardiovascular risk reduction or MASH.

To be eligible for the GLP-1 Bridge program, you must meet all four requirements:

• You have Medicare Part D drug coverage
• Your Medicare Part D plan does not cover a GLP-1 (if it does, you’ll need to continue using your Part D plan for coverage)
• You do not have Type 2 diabetes, moderate to severe obstructive sleep apnea, or fatty liver disease
• You are 18 years of age or older, and have at least one of the following:
  • A body mass index (BMI) of 35 or higher
  • A BMI of 30 or higher and certain types of heart failure, blood pressure that is difficult to control, or chronic kidney disease
  • A BMI of 27 or higher with prediabetes or a history of heart attack, stroke, or blocked arteries in the legs or arms

Regarding Medicaid, states can decide whether or not they’ll cover Wegovy. While the Medicaid Drug Rebate Program requires all Medicaid programs to cover most FDA-approved drugs for medically accepted indications, Wegovy falls into a group of prescription drugs that can be excluded from Medicaid coverage. However, when used for cardiovascular risk reduction or fatty liver disease, Medicaid may provide coverage, although your state’s plan may require prior authorization. Again, it’s best to check with your specific plan for more information.
