What is Acticoat?
Acticoat is a type of medical silver dressing product that uses the antimicrobial properties of silver to provide a barrier against bacterial penetration. This product protects minor cuts, scrapes, and burns, allowing them to heal quickly. This product is also used to promote wound care and the healing of skin ulcers.
Acticoat comes in the form of a barrier antimicrobial dressing with a rayon-polyester core that helps to manage moisture. It can be cut into different sizes and shapes to suit the affected area. Acticoat can be left on wounds for up to seven days. Clean the affected area and ensure that it is dry before using Acticoat. Once prepared, apply the Acticoat dressing to the affected area. You may need to cover the treated area with a bandage or dressing. Ask your doctor or pharmacist for instructions.
Do not leave this product on for longer than advised by your doctor. This material may have metal components that need to be taken off before an MRI, cardioversion, radiation, or other procedures. Talk with the doctor about this product before you start using it.
