What is Azstarys: Uses, Warnings & Interactions

Updated Sep 3, 2025  •  Published Aug 17, 2021

Azstarys is a brand-name drug that relieves the symptoms of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) in children and adults. Its active ingredients are versions of methylphenidate, a common ADHD medication. Although Azstarys requires only one daily dose for the entire day, it is not an extended-release version of methylphenidate. One of the active ingredients in Azstarys begins working immediately. The other is slowly metabolized by the body into an active form of methylphenidate. In this way, one dose is sufficient to control ADHD symptoms for 13 hours, making it easier to administer than five daily doses of regular methylphenidate.
