What is Binosto?

Binosto is an effervescent tablet that is used to treat osteoporosis in postmenopausal women. It is also used to help reduce the chance of having a hip or spinal fracture or break. This medication can also increase bone mass in men who have osteoporosis. This prescription drug works by slowing bone loss. It also helps to maintain strong bones and reduces the risk of broken bones or fractures. Binosto belongs to a class of drugs called bisphosphonates but it is not safe for use by children.

Do not use Binosto if you are allergic to alendronate. If you have problems with your esophagus or low levels of calcium in your blood, do not take this medication. If you cannot sit upright or stand for at least 30 minutes after taking Binosto do not use it.

Before taking Binosto tell your doctor about any other medical conditions you may have, including if you have trouble swallowing, kidney problems, or any condition that makes it hard for you to absorb nutrients from food. If you become pregnant while taking Binosto stop taking this medication and tell your doctor immediately. If you have signs of an allergic reaction after using Binosto you should get immediate medical attention. Symptoms of an allergic reaction include rash, hives, itching, red, swollen, peeling, or blistered skin, trouble breathing, and swelling of your face, lips, throat, and tongue.
