Hydrocortisone acetate is a man-made steroid that belongs to a class of drugs called corticosteroids, which activate chemicals in the body that reduce swelling. When absorbed into the lining of the large intestine, Cortenema reduces the swelling that causes skin irritation, itching, and redness.
