Uses
  • Used as part of a medical test of the adrenal glands.
  • This medicine is not right for everyone. You should not receive this medicine if you have had an allergic reaction to cosyntropin.
Directions
  • Injection routeA nurse or other health provider will give you this medicine.
  • An IV injection is given through a small tube that is put in one of your veins, usually in your arm, wrist, or hand.
  • An IM injection is a shot given in the muscle of your upper arm, thigh, or buttocks.
  • If you miss your appointment for this test, call your doctor.
Warnings
  • Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, or if you are allergic to corticotropins.
Side effects
  • Allergic reaction: Itching or hives, swelling in your face or hands, swelling or tingling in your mouth or throat, chest tightness, trouble breathing
Avoid
  • Tell your doctor if you are also using a diuretic (water pill).
