Denta 5000 Plus is a prescription toothpaste with a high dose of sodium fluoride. Dentists prescribe it to adults and children to prevent cavities (dental caries). It’s used once daily in place of regular toothpaste for that one brushing. Regular toothpaste can be used at other times of the day. The best time to brush with Denta 5000 Plus is right before bedtime.

How to take Denta 5000 Plus

  • The prescriber will tell you how much medicine to use. Do not use more than directed.

  • Do not swallow this medicine. It is for topical use on your teeth only.

  • Use Denta 5000 Plus once daily, preferably at bedtime.

  • Apply a thin strip of gel to a toothbrush.

  • Brush your teeth thoroughly for two minutes.

  • Spit out after brushing.

  • Do not rinse your mouth, eat, or drink for 30 minutes.

  • Children should rinse their mouth immediately after use and spit out the rinse.

  • Store Denta 5000 Plus at room temperature.

What to do if you miss a dose of Denta 5000 Plus

  • Ask the prescriber what to do in case a dose is missed. 

  • Do not take extra medicine to make up for a missed dose.

Denta 5000 Plus contraindications

  • Do not use on a child younger than 6 years old unless the prescriber instructs you to.

    • If Denta 5000 Plus is prescribed to a child younger than 6, that child will require supervision when they brush with Denta 5000 Plus to prevent swallowing during brushing.

Denta 5000 Plus warnings

  • Tell the dentist or prescriber if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or have allergies.

  • Too much fluoride can cause white patches or stains on your teeth. If this happens, stop using the medicine and contact the prescriber.

  • Do not swallow this toothpaste.

    • Ingesting large amounts of this toothpaste can cause serious side effects.

    • If a small amount of this toothpaste is eaten, drink milk or eat another food rich in soluble calcium.

    • If large amounts are eaten, induce vomiting, supply soluble calcium (like milk), and get emergency medical care.

  • If this medicine is being used by a child, an adult should watch the child and make sure they do not swallow the medicine.

  • Overdose: Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, salivation, vomiting blood, stomach cramps, stomach pain

  • Allergic reactions: rash, hives, itching, swelling of the mouth, lips, or tongue
