This medication works by affecting certain minerals such as sodium and potassium inside heart cells. This helps to reduce strain on the heart and helps to maintain a steady, normal heartbeat.
This medication comes in the form of an oral tablet, and is usually taken once a day. Your body may not be able to absorb this drug well if you eat foods that are high in fiber. To avoid this, you may need to use this medication for at least two hours before or after meals that are high in fiber. Your healthcare professional will recommend an appropriate dose for you based on an assessment of your current medical condition, your body weight, other drugs you are currently taking, and your response to treatment.
