Each insurance formulary is different and may or may not cover Hyrimoz. The cost of Hyrimoz with insurance coverage varies depending on your plan - check with your insurance provider for specific drug coverage and copay details. If your insurance does not cover Hyrimoz, you can use SingleCare to get discounts on Hyrimoz at your participating pharmacy. Additionally, you can also use SingleCare coupons if you have Medicare or Medicaid. If Medicare or Medicaid don’t cover your Hyrimoz prescription, you can use SingleCare instead. Refer to your plan’s drug formulary or call your plan to find out whether your Medicare Part D or Medicare Advantage plan covers Hyrimoz and how much the copay or coinsurance is. If Hyrimoz is not covered by Medicare or if you have not met your plan’s deductible, you may have to pay the full price of $2,110.36 for 2, 2ml of 40mg/0.4ml pens. In that case, using a SingleCare coupon for Hyrimoz could save you more money than Medicare. Our lowest price for Hyrimoz is currently $1,259.06 for 2, 2ml of 40mg/0.4ml pens.
Hyrimoz is considered a biosimilar to Humira. Biologic products are not referred to as brands and generics in the way that other prescription drugs are. Rather, Humira is referred to as the reference drug, and Hyrimoz is biosimilar, meaning it is made the same way and works the same way as Humira. There are other Humira biosimilars as well, such as Hadlima and Idacio. Use a SingleCare prescription drug discount card to pay $1,259.06 for 2, 2ml of 40mg/0.4ml pens.
Hyrimoz is a tumor necrosis factor (TNF) blocker made by the pharmaceutical company Sandoz. It works by suppressing the immune system and blocking the effects of TNF, a substance in the body that causes inflammation.
Hyrimoz is biosimilar to Humira, and is approved by the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for the following indications:
Rheumatoid arthritis in adults
Juvenile idiopathic arthritis (ages 2 years or older)
Psoriatic arthritis in adults
Ankylosing spondylitis in adults
Crohn’s disease in adults and children 6 years and older
Ulcerative colitis in adults
Plaque psoriasis in adults
Hidradenitis suppurativa in adults
Hyrimoz is injected subcutaneously (under the skin) in the front of the thighs or the abdomen. It should not be injected into skin that is red, bruised, hard, swollen, scarred, or has stretch marks.
While taking Hyrimoz, you should not get a live vaccine, such as:
Measles, mumps, and rubella (MMR)
Rotavirus
Typhoid
Yellow fever
Varicella (chickenpox)
Shingles
This is because a serious infection could occur if you receive a live vaccine while taking Hyrimoz.
Hyrimoz has a black box warning, the most serious warning required by the FDA. The warning states that while taking Hyrimoz, there is an increased risk of serious infections. These infections may include tuberculosis or other types of bacterial or fungal infections, which could lead to hospitalization or death. While taking Hyrimoz, stay away from people who are sick. Let your doctor know if you have symptoms of infection, like fever, cough, or body aches. Your doctor will monitor you for infections while you take Hyrimoz. There have also been cases of lymphoma and other cancers in children and adolescents who took TNF blockers, including adalimumab.
Common side effects of Hyrimoz include:
Upper respiratory infection
Sinus infection
Injection site reactions
Headache
Rash
In rare cases, a life-threatening allergic reaction or skin reaction may occur. The following symptoms require emergency medical treatment:
Symptoms of an allergic reaction include hives, difficulty breathing, or swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat
Symptoms of a skin reaction include fever, burning eyes, sore throat, skin pain, red or purple rash, blistering or peeling skin
In addition to the black box warning above, other serious side effects may occur, such as:
Reactivation of hepatitis B virus (symptoms may include pain in the upper right stomach, vomiting, appetite loss, dark urine, clay-colored stools, and yellowing of the skin or whites of the eyes)
Neurologic reactions such as multiple sclerosis (MS) and optic neuritis
New or worsening congestive heart failure (symptoms may include swelling, fast weight gain, and shortness of breath)
This is not a full list of side effects, and others may occur. Talk to your doctor for more information about side effects and professional medical advice about what to do if they occur.
Patients who are allergic to adalimumab, Humira, or any ingredients in the medication should not take Hyrimoz. Also, patients with an active infection should not take Hyrimoz. If you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding, let your healthcare provider know.
Before taking Hyrimoz, tell your healthcare provider about all the medications you take, including prescription and OTC medicines, vitamins, and supplements. Some examples of drugs that interact with Hyrimoz include:
Orencia (abatacept) or Kineret (anakinra), when combined with Hyrimoz, can increase the risk of serious infection
Live vaccines (these should not be given while you are taking Hyrimoz because a serious infection could occur)
This is not a full list of drug interactions. Talk to your healthcare professional about drug interactions and how they may affect you.
Humira and Hyrimoz are very similar. Hyrimoz is a biosimilar to Humira. Studies show that these drugs are very similar, with no meaningful differences in safety and effectiveness.
