What is Ilumya?

Ilumya is an FDA-approved prescription medication used to treat moderate to severe plaque psoriasis. It belongs to a class of drugs known as monoclonal antibodies. The active ingredient in this medication is tildrakizumab-asmn. It works by blocking a certain natural substance in your body that may lead to the overgrowth of skin cells seen in plaque psoriasis. Before treatment with this medication, your doctor will test you for tuberculosis (TB). Your doctor should also monitor you for symptoms of TB during and after treatment with this drug. If needed, treatment for tuberculosis or other infections should be given before receiving this medication. Ilumya is given by injection under your skin by a healthcare professional. After the first dose, another dose is usually given four weeks later, followed by doses every 12 weeks. The injection is usually given in the thighs, upper arms, or abdomen (at least 2 inches from your belly button). Your doctor will recommend an appropriate dose for you based on an assessment of your current medical condition, other drugs you are currently taking, and your response to treatment.
