What is Intrarosa used for?

Intrarosa comes in the form of a vaginal insert and is used by women after menopause to treat painful sexual intercourse. It interacts with vaginal cells to produce estrogen. This improves elasticity and pH levels in vaginal tissues, making sex less painful. You should not use Intrarosa if you are allergic to prasterone. Common side effects of Intrarosa include vaginal discharge and changes on Pap smear.

How to take Intrarosa

  • Store the medicine in a closed container at room temperature, away from heat, moisture, and direct light. You may also store the medicine in the refrigerator.

  • This medicine comes with a disposable applicator. Place the vaginal insert in the applicator and then insert it into your vagina. Use each applicator only once, and then throw it away.

  • Missed dose: Take a dose as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose, wait until then and take a regular dose. Do not take extra medicine to make up for a missed dose.
