What is My Choice?

My Choice, which contains levonorgestrel, is used by women to prevent pregnancy if your birth control fails or after you have had unprotected sex. My Choice should not be used as a regular form of birth control, as it is a progestin hormone that works mainly by preventing the release of an egg during your menstrual cycle. It also makes changes to your vaginal fluid to help prevent fertilization.

Note: My Choice will not stop an existing pregnancy nor will it protect you or your partner against sexually transmitted diseases.

This medication may not work well in women who weigh more than 164 pounds (74 kgs). Before taking My Choice, check with your healthcare provider to ensure it is safe for you to use.

If you are using other medications or have used certain other medications within the past month, you need to inform your healthcare professional. Some drugs (prescription and otc) may reduce the effectiveness of My Choice, which can result in pregnancy. Tell your healthcare provider if you are using certain antibiotics, seizure control medications, antiviral medications, and supplements with St John's Wort.

Only use My Choice how your doctor or healthcare provider recommends. You can also refer to the packaging for directions on how to use My Choice. My Choice may be more effective at preventing pregnancy if it is taken within 72 hours after unprotected sex. If you throw up within two hours of taking this medication, you will need to call your doctor for medical advice.

What are the side effects of My Choice?

Common side effects of My Choice include nausea or vomiting, stomach pain, headache, tiredness, dizziness, and breast tenderness. You may also experience changes in vaginal bleeding.

Do not use My Choice if you are allergic to levonorgestrel or any other part of this medication. If you are pregnant or may be pregnant do not use My Choice.

Keep My Choice out of the reach of children. In case of overdose, get medical help or contact a Poison Control center immediately.
