How to take Nystatin-Triamcinolone

  • Follow all the prescriber’s instructions.

  • Use this medicine on the skin only.

    • Do not let it get in your eyes or mouth.

  • Apply the cream or ointment twice daily, once in the morning and once at night.

  • Wash your hands before and after applying a dose.

  • Apply a thin film of cream to the affected skin and rub it in gently.

    • Avoid getting any of this medicine on the skin surrounding the affected area.

    • Avoid tight-fitting diapers and plastic pants if this medicine is used on your child's diaper area.

  • Wear loose-fitting clothes over this medicine.

    • Do not put a bandage over the treated area unless instructed otherwise.

    • When used on an infant’s diaper area, avoid tight-fitting diapers or plastic pants.

  • If the medicine does not work after two to three weeks, call the prescriber.

What to do if you miss a dose of Nystatin-Triamcinolone

  • Do not miss any doses.

  • Ask the prescriber how to handle a missed dose.

  • Do not apply extra medicine to make up for a missed dose.

  • You should not use this medicine if you have ever had an allergic reaction to nystatin, triamcinolone, or any other product ingredient.

  • Tell other healthcare providers who treat you that you are using this medicine.

  • Before starting this medicine, tell the healthcare provider if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. 

  • If you become pregnant while taking this medicine, tell the prescriber.

  • Using too much nystatin/triamcinolone or using it on large areas of the skin may cause adrenal gland problems.

  • Do not use this medicine for any other condition other than that for which it is prescribed.

  • Ask the healthcare provider how to prevent future yeast infections of the skin.
