Does Medicare cover Enalapril and how much does it cost?

Enalapril is covered by most Medicare prescription drug plans. For patients without Medicare, a SingleCare Enalapril coupon offers significant savings at major pharmacies.

What is the brand name of Enalapril?

Enalapril is a generic medication prescribed to treat high blood pressure and heart failure. It is supplied by several generic prescription drug manufacturers. Enalapril is also the active ingredient in brand-name Vasotec tablets manufactured by Bausch and Epaned liquid manufactured by Azurity. To find out more about Vasotec or Epaned, search our website or app for information or savings coupons.

What is Enalapril?

Enalapril is a prescription drug that lowers blood pressure primarily in patients diagnosed with high blood pressure (hypertension). It is also used in the treatment of heart failure. Enalapril belongs to a class of medications called ACE inhibitors, which lower blood pressure by blocking the action of a protein (angiotensin) that causes the blood vessels to tighten. As the blood vessels lose tension, they get wider, and blood pressure within them goes down.

Enalapril is also prescribed to reduce blood pressure in patients with kidney disease or who have recently had a heart attack.

What are the side effects of Enalapril?

The most common physical side effects of Enalapril include headache, dizziness, chest pain, nausea, diarrhea, cough, and fatigue. A potentially serious side effect of Enalapril is high potassium levels in the blood. Potassium levels that are too high can cause the heart to beat irregularly or even cause a heart attack. Allergic reactions may include swelling, rash, and itching. The most serious allergic reaction to Enalapril is a rapid swelling beneath the skin that, if severe enough, can restrict the airways. This is not a complete list of all side effects that may occur. If you have questions or concerns about side effects, consult with your doctor or pharmacist.

Savings tips for Enalapril

Since Enalapril is an older, generic drug, using a SingleCare coupon is a good way to make its monthly cost affordable if you don’t have insurance coverage. It also pays to shop around to see the cost at different pharmacies. Some may offer lower prices than competitors.
