What is Phospho-Trin 250 Neutral used for?

K-Phos-Neutral is used to treat patients who have low phosphate levels in their blood. This medication can also be used to prevent phosphate deficiency. It works by increasing phosphates in the body to make the urine more acidic and lowering concentrations of calcium to prevent formation of calcium stones in the kidney.

How to take Phospho-Trin 250 Neutral

  • Your doctor will tell you how much medicine to use. Do not use more than directed.

  • Place the tablets in about 8 ounces of water and let them dissolve for 2 to 5 minutes. If the tablets have not dissolved completely after 5 minutes, you may stir and break the pieces so they dissolve. Stir, and drink all the water and dissolved medicine.

  • Take this medicine at meal times and again at bedtime, unless your doctor tells you differently.

  • Missed dose: Take a dose as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose, wait until then and take a regular dose. Do not take extra medicine to make up for a missed dose.

  • Store the medicine in a closed container at room temperature, away from heat, moisture, and direct light.

  • Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, or if you have kidney disease, heart problems, high blood pressure, Addison disease, or myotonia congenita.

  • You might pass kidney stones when you first start using this medicine, if you have kidney stones already.

  • Some medicines and foods can affect how this potassium supplement works.
