The active ingredient in Rezdiffra is called resmetirom. It is a thyroid hormone receptor-beta agonist.
The most common side effects of Rezdiffra (reported in at least 5% of people) are diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, constipation, abdominal pain, itching, and dizziness.
Serious side effects of Rezdiffra may include liver injury (hepatotoxicity) and gallbladder problems.
Tell your healthcare provider about all medical conditions you have and medications you take before using Rezdiffra. Certain medications, such as gemfibrozil or cyclosporine, should not be taken with Rezdiffra. If you take a statin for high cholesterol, such as Lipitor (atorvastatin), Crestor (rosuvastatin), Pravachol (pravastatin), or Zocor (simvastatin), your doctor may need to adjust your statin dosage when taking Rezdiffra. If you take Plavix (clopidogrel), your doctor will need to lower your dose of Rezdiffra.
