What is Rifaximin used for?

Rifaximin is a miscellaneous antibiotic used to treat diarrhea caused by a bacterial infection known as Escherichia coli (E. coli). It is safe to use in adults and children who are at least 12 years old. This medication works to prevent the bacteria from growing and spreading in the body. Rifaximin is also used to treat adults diagnosed with irritable bowel syndrome.
