How much does Rizatriptan cost without insurance?

Without insurance, Rizatriptan costs an average of $261.43 for 9, 10mg tablet disintegratings of Rizatriptan. Compare this price to a SingleCare Rizatriptan coupon, $11.19 for 9, 10mg tablet disintegratings. From generics to brand-name prescription drugs, you can save as much as 80% with SingleCare savings cards.

How much does Rizatriptan cost with insurance?

Many health insurance plans cover generic Rizatriptan for migraines. However, prior authorization may be required. And depending on the plan, the copay cost may be higher than what you would pay with a SingleCare coupon.

Does Medicare cover Rizatriptan?

Generic Rizatriptan is usually covered by Medicare Part D and Medicare Advantage prescription drug plans. The brand-name version, Maxalt, is not. People with Medicare drug coverage may pay less for Rizatriptan by using a SingleCare coupon in place of Medicare.

Does Medicaid cover Rizatriptan?

Medicaid formularies vary by state. Many state Medicaid plans may cover generic Rizatriptan but not the brand-name version. If Rizatriptan is not on the formulary or the copay is high, you can save money by using a SingleCare coupon for your Rizatriptan prescription.

What is the brand name of Rizatriptan?

Rizatriptan is a generic prescription drug to relieve the symptoms of migraine and is administered as a tablet or disintegrating tablet. The brand-name version of Rizatriptan is Maxalt, manufactured by Organon LLC.

What is Rizatriptan?

Rizatriptan is a generic prescription drug formulated to relieve an active migraine. However, Rizatriptan is not to be prescribed for migraines that involve partial paralysis or that are concentrated at the base of the skull.

Rizatriptan relieves migraine pain in two ways. The pain of a migraine is due to the widening of blood vessels in the head. The pain signals are sent through a nerve in the face, called the trigeminal nerve, to the brain. Rizatriptan narrows blood vessels and also blocks signals from the trigeminal nerve to the brain.

Rizatriptan should be taken at the onset of a migraine for maximum effectiveness. Rizatriptan does not prevent migraines. Rizatriptan will not be effective on other types of headaches, such as tension headaches. Rizatriptan should be discontinued immediately if it does not affect symptoms.

Rizatriptan is administered as a tablet or a disintegrating tablet.

What are the side effects of Rizatriptan?

The side effects of Rizatriptan include headache, weakness, dizziness, spinning sensation (vertigo), nausea, drooling, unusual taste in the mouth, flushing, and a feeling of heaviness or pressure on parts of the body.

The most serious side effects of Rizatriptan are heart attack symptoms, stroke symptoms, and dangerously high blood pressure.

Mental and mood changes occur when the chemical Rizatriptan blocks serotonin from getting too high: agitation and hallucinations, as well as diarrhea, nausea, and overactive reflexes.

Allergic reactions are rare and include trouble breathing, hives, or swelling. This is not a complete list of the Rizatriptan side effects.

Ways to save on Rizatriptan

Since Rizatriptan is taken when a migraine begins, the total cost will depend on the frequency of headaches. With a SingleCare Rizatriptan coupon, you could pay as little as $11.19 for 9, 10mg tablet disintegratings.

Other ways to save on Rizatriptan include:

  • Cost-saving programs from Organon, the manufacturer of branded Maxalt tablets, may be available. However, these programs may have eligibility criteria.

  • If you have Medicare, you may be able to reduce your coinsurance payment for Rizatriptan with the Medicare Part D Extra Help program.

  • A work-based health savings account or flexible spending account can help to pay for your Rizatriptan prescription.

  • Check the cost of Rizatriptan at different pharmacies, as prices vary.

  • Your healthcare provider may be able to provide you with free samples of Rizatriptan, but this isn’t always possible.

Is there a cheaper alternative to Rizatriptan?

As a generic drug that treats acute migraines, Rizatriptan is among the least expensive options, especially with a SingleCare coupon. Other drugs in this class include sumatriptan and zolmitriptan. Sumatriptan is slightly less expensive, and zolmitriptan costs a little more. A SingleCare coupon substantially reduces the cost of all three medications.

How to use SingleCare for Rizatriptan

You can use SingleCare coupons at most national pharmacies and grocery stores, including Walgreens, Kroger, Walmart, CVS, Safeway, and more. Simply text, email, print, or save your free Rizatriptan coupon to your mobile wallet and show your pharmacist at the counter.
