What is Synvisc?

Synvisc is a brand-name medication injection used to treat osteoarthritis of the knee pain for patients who are still suffering even though they are using pain relievers. Osteoarthritis is a degenerative condition in which cartilage wears away in the joints until bone is rubbing up against bone.

The active ingredients in Synvisc, hylan A and hylan B, are derived from hyaluronic acid, the body's natural lubricant and moisture retainer for joints and other connective tissues.
