What is Triderm?
Triderm is an FDA-approved prescription medication used to treat a variety of skin conditions such as dermatitis, allergies, eczema, and rashes. Triderm is a type of corticosteroid and works by affecting substances in your body to reduce swelling and itching that can occur if you suffer from any of these conditions.
This medication comes in the form of a topical cream and is meant for external use on the skin only. Do not use this medication on your groin, face, or underarms unless instructed to do so by your doctor. Wash and dry your hands and the affected area before applying this medication. Distribute a thin film of Triderm to the affected area and gently rub. This is usually done about two to four times per day. Your doctor will recommend an appropriate dose for you based on an assessment of your current medical condition, other drugs you are currently taking, and your response to treatment.
Wash your hands after using this medication. If you're applying this medication near your eyes, then you will need to avoid getting it in the eyes as this may worsen or cause glaucoma. Use this medication only as prescribed by your doctor.
What are the side effects of Triderm?
Triderm may cause unwanted side effects such as itching, burning, irritation, or dryness when first applied to your skin. These effects typically disappear after a few days as your body adjusts to the medication. Contact your doctor or pharmacist if you experience any of these effects and they persist or worsen.
Seek prompt medical attention if you notice unlikely but serious side effects such as stretch marks, skin thinning or discoloration, acne, hair bumps, or greatly increased hair growth. Skin infections may worsen when using this medication. Inform your doctor if you experience redness or swelling that does not improve. Speak with your doctor or healthcare professional for full medical advice on the risks and benefits involved with using Triderm as this is not a complete list of side effects.
