What is Xeljanz XR?

Xeljanz XR is a brand-name extended-release drug used to treat moderate to severe rheumatoid arthritis, a condition in which the body's immune system attacks healthy cells in the joints, causing swelling, stiffness, and pain. The active ingredient in Xeljanz XR, tofacitinib, interferes with the substances that signal the immune system to attack the body’s own cells.
