What is Chlorzoxazone: Uses, Warnings & Interactions

Updated May 14, 2025  •  Published Dec 30, 2020

Chlorzoxazone is a generic muscle relaxant that relieves pain due to temporary musculoskeletal conditions. It slows down nerves in the spinal cord and brain to reduce muscle spasms. Chlorzoxazone tablets are taken three to four times daily, but the dosage can be reduced as the pain fades. Drowsiness, dizziness, and impairment are the most common side effects of this medicine, so people taking it for pain relief should be careful about driving and other potentially hazardous activities.
