It works by slowing down nerve impulses in the heart. This medication is only available with a doctor's prescription and therefore, should only be used as prescribed. You should not take more or less of this drug as it may raise the risk of unwanted side effects. Dofetilide works best when there is a constant amount in the body. Therefore, you should take your doses at the same time every day. Dofetilide is approved for use in adults. Safety and efficacy in children has not been established.
