Elinest (ethinyl estradiol and norgestrel) is a women's generic birth control pill. The hormones in Elinest prevent ovulation (the release of an egg from the ovaries) and change the cervical and uterine linings. These changes make it difficult for sperm to move along these linings and also prevent the attachment of a fertilized egg to the uterus. Elinest costs $41.43, but you can expect to pay $11.88 if you use a free SingleCare Elinest coupon.

Elinest is a generic prescription oral contraceptive for women. The brand-name alternative is Lo/Ovral, manufactured by Pfizer. Other Lo/Ovral generics are Cryselle-28 and Low-Ogestrel. Search for these and other alternatives to Elinest on our website or app to find additional information or savings coupons.
Elinest is a generic women's prescription birth control pill, the generic alternative to Pfizer's Lo/Ovral. The active ingredients are two naturally-occurring female sex hormones, ethinyl estradiol and norgestrel. Elinest is a “monophasic” birth control pill: the dose remains constant for 21 days of the 28 day cycle.
Elinest, like other birth control pills, prevents ovulation, the monthly release of an egg from the ovaries. It also changes the linings of both the cervix and uterus, blocking the movement of sperm along these linings and, if an egg is fertilized, preventing an egg from attaching to the uterine wall.
Elinest is taken daily on a 28-day schedule. For 21 of those 28 days, Elinest contains the active ingredients. The final 7 tablets taken at the end of the menstrual cycle, however, are placebos. They are medically unnecessary, but they help to keep the patient on schedule for starting the next month's sequence of birth control pills.
Common side effects of Elinest include but are not limited to swelling, bloating, changes in menstruation, headache, nausea, vomiting, breast tenderness, vaginal itching, and vaginal discharge. Allergic reactions to Elinest are extremely rare but include rashes and hives. Mood changes are often reported: mood swings, depression, and decreased sex drive.
Nursing mothers should avoid Elinest because estrogens, besides decreasing breast milk, pass into the milk and affect the development of the infant.
