Menveo is a brand-name vaccine that provides active immunity from bacterial meningitis, an infection of the membranes that cover the brain. Bacterial meningitis is caused by the bacteria, Neisseria meningitidis, which can also infect the bloodstream. The active ingredients are carbohydrates that line the surface of the bacteria cell. The body mounts an immune response as if it were actually being attacked by living bacteria. The antibodies the body creates provide a long-lasting line of defense against meningitis bacteria infections.

Menveo is injected by a healthcare professional to patients who are at risk of being exposed to meningitis bacteria. Menveo provides immunity against four strains of the meningitis bacteria: A, C, W, and Y and therefore is called a meningococcal ACWY vaccine.

What are the side effects of Menveo?
