What is Vivotif?

Vivotif is an oral live vaccine that prevents typhoid fever. Typhoid fever is an infection caused by salmonella bacteria found in water or food. Vivotif works by introducing live bacteria into the body to stimulate the immune system and prepare it to eradicate the bacteria in case of exposure.

The active ingredient in Vivotif is a live bacteria called salmonella typhi. It has been freeze-dried and stored in an oral capsule. Vivotif is administered as a coated oral capsule.
