What is Sorilux?

Sorilux foam is a medication used to treat thick, red, scaly patches on the skin caused by plaque psoriasis. Psoriasis is a common skin condition that speeds up the life cycle of skin cells. It causes cells to build up rapidly on the surface of the skin. The extra skin cells form scales and red patches that are itchy and sometimes painful. The main ingredient in Sorilux is calcipotriene, a man-made type of vitamin D, which helps to slow down the growth of new skin cells.

Do not use Sorilux if you have hypercalcemia (high levels of calcium in the blood), are below 12 years of age, or if you're allergic to calcipotriene. Tell your doctor if you're planning to become pregnant, pregnant, or breasting feeding as the effects of Sorilux on infants and unborn babies are unknown.

To get the best results, you should use this medication regularly. Notify your doctor if your condition does not improve or if it worsens. You should be able to see a noticeable improvement in your plaque psoriasis condition after about two weeks of treatment.

What are the side effects of Sorilux?

The most common side effects of Sorilux are redness, dry or peeling skin, mild rash, or itching.

If you experience severe burning, stinging, or irritation, worsening of your skin condition, nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, loss of appetite, you should stop using Sorilux and immediately contact your doctor or healthcare provider for immediate medical advice and attention.

This is not a complete list of side effects and others may occur. You can report other adverse effects to the FDA.
