What is Synerderm?
Synerderm is a brand-name prescription skin moisturizer that relieves the symptoms – itching and burning – caused by eczema (atopic dermatitis) and allergies (allergic dermatitis). Synerderm is an “emulsion,” which is not as thick as a cream and is more easily and quickly absorbed into the skin.
The active ingredients in Synerderm are deionized (demineralized) water, copolymer, and palm oils. Deionized water more quickly absorbs into the skin than normal water and doesn't cause the skin to dry out as mineralized water does. Copolymer works like a hydrogel by putting a protective barrier between the skin and the air. Palm oils are used in skin moisturizers to protect against evaporation.
Synerderm is applied to the affected area up to 5 times a day.
What are the side effects of Synerderm?
Synerderm is classified as a medical device rather than a drug. Some but not all common side effects of Synerderm are primarily allergic reactions to the active or inactive ingredients and include skin redness, itching, burning, or irritation.
